Intermediate to advanced level trip. 5 days paddling.
A circular guided sea kayak journey in this unique UNESCO world heritage site in northern Sweden. The red granite glows in the sunshine and there are empty beaches and secret wood-fired saunas. Launching near Köpmanholmen we plan to visit the islands of Mjältön, (Sweden’s highest island), Ulvön (home of Surströming), Trysunda and Grisslan, ending up on the fifth day at Köpmanholmen. Each island has it’s own unique character and we will explore ashore as well as the enjoy the varied rocky coastlines.
The price of this trip is 8,500 SEK for 5 days expedition paddling. We can meet you at Örnskoldsvik airport or train station. This price includes a suitable sea kayak, paddle and buoyancy aid, tents and sleeping mats and cooking stoves with fuel as well as plates and cutlery. We find that dietary preferences on expedition vary hugely so food is not included in the trip price. However, we will shop together at the start if the trip and can give advice as to what to buy if needed. If time is very short, we can pre-buy food for you in Sweden. There will be an opportunity to pick up limited supplies on the island of Ulvön mid-way through this trip.
