Swedish High Coast

29 June – 6 July, 2019 – Intermediate level trip.

The High Coast of Sweden offers a network of forested islands with old fishing villages tucked away in sheltered bays like on Ulvön and Trysunda. Kayaking is a great way to experience the unique landscape of crystal clear water, sandy beaches as well as the red granite cliffs rising steeply from the sea.

The high coast is the only part of Sweden that is still rising from the weight of the former inland icecap was central to the fishermen of Bothnian sea, and is home to Sweden’s most peculiar delicacy, fermented herring. Love it or hate it you have to try surströmming!

The light evenings and magical blue light make this a favourite place to paddle.’

A one-way journey in this unique UNESCO world heritage site in northern Sweden. Launching near the High Coast Bridge, weather permitting we plan to visit the islands of Högbonden, Mjältön, Ulvön, Trysunda and Grisslan, ending up in Gullvik. Pretty harbours and secluded bays this trip will be mostly wild camping with a hostel stay on the first and last night.

Six days paddling, starting on 30th June and ending on 5th July.

We will collect you from Örnskoldsvik airport
